CAPACITY BUILDING OF FRONTLINE WORKERS FOR AFIKEPO NUTRITION PROJECT

The Human Ecology Department Chancellor College has partnered with Unicef Afikepo Project to provide technical support in tracking progress with regard to improving maternal, infant and young child nutrition and ensuring compliance in reporting of information into the National Nutrition Information Systems. This work is being carried out in the ten districts where the Afikepo program is being implemented. In this regard, Chancellor college is looking for persons to feel the post of Interns tenable at district level in Chitipa, Mzimba, Thyolo, Nkhotakota, Salima, Mulanje, Chiradzulu, Kasungu, NkhataBay and Karonga. This is one year internship and the interns will receive stipend.

Job description

The successful candidates will be expected to:

  1. Ensure timely availability of monitoring data and reporting tools at all levels for input into the National Nutrition Information Systems at District level.

  2. Build capacity of government extension workers, care group promoters and cluster leaders to ensure compliance with timeliness and standards.

  3. Identify and document best practices in the adoption of recommended maternal, infant and young child nutrition practices.

  4. Support the government frontline workers and caregroup promoters in the compilation, analysis and submission of monitoring reports for planning and decision making.

 

Requirements

  1. Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition, Nutrition or Food Security

  2. Knowledge of Malawi nutrition programmes and related development programmes

  3. Ability to work in very remote areas of Malawi and in a multidisciplinary environment

  4. Fluency in English (including writing skills) and local languages applicable in the Afikepo supported district in question.

  5. Good interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
