MASTER OF ARTS IN POLITICAL SCIENCE
The Department of Political and Administrative studies at Chancellor College is pleased o invite applications for a 2-year full-time programme of study leading to the award of a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Political Science.
Programme description
This MA programme consists of two components: namely taught course work and independent research work leading to the writing of a thesis under the supervision of a senior member of the department. The coursework, comprising 4 compulsory and 4 optional courses, is covered in the first year while the research project and writing of a thesis is conducted in the second year.
Compulsory Courses: Comparative Politics, African Politics, Political Theory, and Research Methods for Political Science. Students will be required to take two compulsory courses in each semester.
Optional Courses: International Political Economy, Politics of Development, Corporate Governance and Leadership, Public Policy Analysis and Management, and International Relations. Students will be required to take two optional courses in each semester.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have a strong Bachelor’s degree (Credit or Pass with 55% and above) in Political Science or Public Administration. Applicants with a degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from a recognised institution will be considered if they had some Political Science subjects in their undergraduate programmes.
Fees
Total fees payable per student for the entire programme (2 years) are as follows:

US$5,000.00 for Malawian students (Payable in Malawi Kwacha)

US$6,500.00 for foreign students
The fees cover the costs of registration, tuition, supervision, examination, and institutional overheads. Students are expected to meet costs of research, accommodation and meals, medical care, books, stationery and learning materials.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The application package should be labelled “MA Political Science” and include the following: one application letter, a detailed CV, a two-page typed brief of your research interests in the area of Political Science, certified copies of certificates, original copy of academic transcripts, two copies of academic references in sealed envelopes, three copies of completed application forms (University of Malawi PG1 Form to be requested from the Departmental Secretary through: pastudies@cc.ac.mw ; an application fee of MK5,000.00 should be paid to the following account details:
