The University of Malawi is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for admission into its mature entry programmes for the 2022-2023 academic year.

1. Minimum Entry Requirements for all applicants

   Interested applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:

   1. A Malawi School Certificate of Education or any equivalent O-Level qualification with at least 4 subjects passed with credit (6 subjects for some programmes) including ENGLISH LANGUAGE and other subjects specified in the table under point (d) below.

   2. A University of Malawi Diploma or, a relevant Diploma recognized by the University of Malawi.

   3. A minimum of 2 years post Diploma relevant work experience in a field related to the programme

      applied for.

   4. Applicants MUST also meet the additional entry requirements for each programme as outlined in the table below:

      a. However, depending on the strength of the A-Level they will be required to audit first year course.       1. Entry into Year 1: Learners with MSCE, “O” level equivalent, IGCSE, GCE with six credits including Geography, Mathematics, English, Biology, Physics or Chemistry or General Science. IGCSE and GCE shall be interpreted as follows: A=1 or 2; B=3 or 4; C= 5 or 6; D=7; E, F, G=8.

      2. Entry into Year 2: A-Level with at least C grade in Physics, Biology, Geography, Chemistry and Mathematics. The learners will be required to audit first year Geology courses. A-Level qualifications shall be interpreted as: A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1.

      1. Holders of Bachelor’s degree

      2. Those who have successfully completed 2 or more subjects (including financial mathematics) of the UK, US, Australian or South African actuarial boards.

      3. Holders of the Chartered Actuarial Analyst (CAA) qualification.

      4. Professionals holding the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification or who have completed at least the first level of the CFA program (with an average pass of at least 65% in mathematics subjects).

      1. Students with A-Level qualifications shall be required to have an aggregate of 6 points in the two principal subjects. A-Level qualifications shall be interpreted as: A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1.

      IV. FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE
      a. Those with a recognized Bachelor’s degree would also be considered.

Bachelor of Social Science in Law Enforcement Management and Leadership	BSOC LML	20	Fulltime	Year 1 or 2	4 years	MWK 850, 000.00 SADC USD 1.200 NON SADC USD 2,000	Candidates with the following qualifications shall be admitted into year two of study on mature entry basis: A two year Diploma from University of Malawi recognized institutions (with a minimum of a Credit), and having accumulated a minimum of 240 credit hours. The diploma should be in any of the following disciplines: Law, Security Studies, and any Law Enforcement related Studies. Candidates should also have an MSCE with at least four credits, including English, Biology, Physical Science/Physics & Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates may be required to start from first year where necessary. In addition to the above requirements, candidates to be admitted on mature entry shall have a minimum of two years progressive experience with Government of Malawi recognized law enforcement agency.

      1. Entry into Year 2: Holders of University Certificate in Computer Science from the University of Malawi.

      2. Entry into Year 3: Holders of an Advanced Diploma in Computing or any related field from a recognized institution of higher learning with a pass of distinction or credit and an MSCE with at least four credits including Mathematics, Physics/Physical Science and English.

      1. Entry in Year 2: Learners with ‘MSCE with six credits’ or Equivalent and a relevant certificate or diploma in ECD will be considered to start in year two if they satisfy the required credits as stipulated in the UNIMA Qualifications Framework.

      2. Entry in Year 3: Learners with UNIMA diploma in ECD or similar qualification will be considered for entry in the third year.

2. TUITION FEES PER ANNUM

   Please note that the fees indicated above are subject to change anytime.

Duly completed application forms together with proof of payment of a non-refundable application fee of K25, 000.00 for Malawian candidates and U$35 for international applicants should be sent to the same address.    1. Copies of all relevant degrees/Diplomas/certificates/academic transcripts which have been indicated on the application form. These must be duly certified as true copies of the originals by a recognized Commissioner of Oaths.
