PRESS RELEASE OPENING ARRANGEMENTS FOR FIRST YEARS 2021 COHORT

University of Malawi wishes to inform its first year students that were selected in 2021, parents/guardians and the general public that opening arrangements for the first semester of 2021 first year students are as follows: 

OPENING DATES

Students are expected to arrive by Sunday, 24th April, 2022. 

Orientation programme shall be held from 25th - 29th April, 2022. 

Classes shall begin from Tuesday 3rd May, 2022. 

PAYMENT OF FEES

Students are advised to start paying their fees through their 12-digit account numbers that were provided on the admission letter through any National Bank of Malawi branches or use Mo626 platform. Please note that the University does not accept any cash payments. 

Please be advised that cheque payments are not allowed unless they are bank certified and the deposit slip should bear the 12-digit account number. 

REGISTRATION

Registration will be opened for a period of 14 days from Monday, 2nd May, 2022. Only students who will pay 50% of their fees shall be allowed to register their courses. Students who fail to register within this period shall be withdrawn from the University. 

ACCOMMODATION

All students are reminded that admission is on non-residential basis. However, the limited university campus accommodation will be allocated to a few students on random basis. Students are advised to call the Porters' Lodge on 0888 638000 from Thursday, 21st April, 2022 to check if they have been offered campus accommodation. The University website (www.unima.ac.mw) has some information for students who would wish to go into private accommodation arrangements.
