The British High Commissioner addresses staff and students

BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER VISITS PAS DEPARTMENT

The Political and Administrative Studies Department through the student’s PAS Society, hosted the British High Commissioner, Ms Holly Tett, at the Faculty of Law boardroom on 20th November 2018. This was a visit that the students had initially intended to have with the High Commissioner at the Embassy in Lilongwe.

During the short visit, the High Commissioner gave an educational talk and interacted with staff and students on a number of issues. These included the topical issue of Brexit, as well as the position of China. On the latter subject, she stressed that Malawi’s relations with China will not affect the long standing partnership between Britain and Malawi.

The Head of the Department of PAS, Dr. Happy Kayuni, points out that the visit came at the right time, given that some of the modules that are taught in the department touch on the current Brexit debate. It was therefore a good opportunity for students to get information on that matter.
