LAW FACULTY AWARDS DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS OF STAFF

On the 12th of December, 2018, the Faculty of Law held a ceremony to celebrate selected members of staff in the faculty for their long and distinguished service. 

The faculty decided to recognize these distinguished members of staff, who included Prof. Edge Kanyongolo and Mr. Matthias Chiwaya, the Senior Assistant Librarian at the Law library.

One of the most well-known lawyers in the country, Mr. Krishna Savjani, OBE, SC, was invited as Guest of Honour to the event and presented the award to Prof. Kanyongolo. The Principal of the College, Prof. Richard Tambulasi, was also invited, and presented the award to Mr. Chiwaya.

The Head of Foundation Law, Mrs. Gift Dorothy Makanje expresses the Faculty’s appreciation for the two members of staff.

“Both of these individuals deserve these awards. For Prof. Kanyongolo, we appreciate his contribution to the faculty as well as to the country. Despite being a senior member of staff, he relates very well with students as well as staff at all levels. Mr Chiwaya, our librarian, has proven to be more than just a librarian. Both students and staff find him to be a invaluable figure in the library”.
