Kayange’s book on African Philosophy

NEW PUBLICATION ON AFRICAN PHILOSOPHY

It is always a moment of celebration at Chancellor College when an academic publishes a book. And all academics realize that a book counts for a lot for knowledge dissemination, prestige, and of course, promotion.

The latest to publish his work is Dr. Grivas Kayange, a member of staff in the Department of Philosophy and current Dean of Humanities. The book is entitled Meaning and Truth in African Philosophy: Doing African Philosophy with Language and has been published by Springer.

Kayange observed that publishing the book had been a demanding but rewarding experience. “It is one way of entering into dialogue with many scholars at different levels”, he said. He expressed optimism that more publications would emerge from the college.

On the publisher’s website, the book is described as offering a new way of doing African philosophy by building on an analysis of ordinary language. The Department of Philosophy teaches African Philosophy among its modules. However, the book is bound to be of benefit even to others.
