STUDENT BODY ELECTS NEW LEADERSHIP

On 15th September, the Chancellor College student community went to the polls to elect a new student government. In a remarkably free and fair election, Raphael Nedi was voted as the new Students Union of Chancellor College (SUCC) president, taking over from Ayuba James. In his speech during the swearing in ceremony that took place on 19th September 2017, the visibly elated Nedi promised to work hand-in -hand with college administration to improve student’s welfare. On his part, the outgoing president, Ayuba James, called upon the president elect to always carry out his duties with the sole purpose of advancing students’ welfare.

Also speaking during the swearing in ceremony was college principal, Prof. Richard Tambulasi who congratulated Nedi and his team for their triumph in the elections. Tambulasi emphasized the need for a cordial working relationship between college administration and SUCC because that is the only sure way that students’ needs can be addressed properly and effectively.

A total of 3489 voters registered for 2017 SUCC elections. Out of these, 1950 voters took part in the voting process, representing a 55.9 % voter turnout.
