UNIMAWES Inspires Malosa Secondary School

On Wednesday, 14th May 2025, a team of six University of Malawi Wildlife and Environmental Society (UNIMAWES) members visited Malosa Secondary School where they inspired and motivated the students to work hard in their studies.

The aim of the visit was to ignite passion, purpose, and academic ambition among students while showcasing the limitless possibilities at the University of Malawi - UNIMA. The event drew an audience of approximately 300 enthusiastic students from Malosa Secondary School.

The team comprised of the patron, matron, two alumni, and two UNIMA student ambassadors.

The Patron, Mr Vitumbiko Chijere Chirwa, delivered a powerful session on career guidance, unpacking the steps to choosing a fulfilling career and emphasizing academic excellence as the backbone of future success. The Matron, Miss Salome Kahonge, captivated students with a unique presentation on “The 3 Me/You”, urging learners to understand themselves holistically - physically, mentally, and spiritually - with a special word of encouragement to the girls to stay focused.

Former UNIMAWES President and one of the current UNIMA student ambassadors, Mr Henry Supedi, gave a compelling talk about the University of Malawi, its proud legacy, academic programmes, and what makes it the top university in the country. He guided the students on what it takes to gain admission and how to thrive in university life.

The interactive question and answer session lit up the room as the curious Malosa Secondary School students asked thoughtful questions about university life, admission requirements, and career prospects after graduation.

This outreach symbolises UNIMAWES’ and UNIMA’s unwavering commitment to community engagement and educational empowerment. It highlights the passion, devotion, and pride of its staff, students, and alumni to serve as true champions of inspiration for the next generation.
