Dr. Ahmmardouh Mjaya is a lecturer in language and linguistics in the department of language, linguistics, and classical studies. He also works as a Ciyawo language specialist at the Centre for Language Studies. He is a Co-Chair of the UNESCO Chair, UEA. He is a Principal Investigator of the Multilingual Markets Project being undertaken in collaboration with the University of Stirling and Glasgow University. He led the Family Literacy Project under the UNESCO Chair partnership with the University of East Anglia. At the Centre for Language Studies, he was the principal contributor to the publication of Ciyawo monolingual Dictionary under the Malawi Lexicon Project (MaLex). He has made presentations at events and conferences organised by the British Association of Literacy and Development (BALID, UK), the United Kingdom Forum for International Education and Training (UKFIET), Bahir Dar University, (Ethiopia), Santo Tomas University, (the Philippines).
