Dr. Dalitso Richard Kafumbata

Profile

Dalitso Kafumbata, is a molecular geneticist with post-doctoral training in ecosystem services for managing food and nutritional health. Dalitso is the lead researcher on enhancement of growth performance in cichlids, pulses, and cereal crops using modern biotechnology at the African Center of Excellence in Resilient Agri-Food Systems (CRAFS), University of Malawi. He holds a faculty position as Senior Lecturer and Chair of the Department of Biological and Biomedical Health Sciences in the School of Natural and Applied Sciences. Besides postgraduate student supervision, Dalitso teaches courses in genetics and biotechnology. He also serves as Fisheries Research Advisor for FAO Malawi since 2018 on building climate change resilience in the Fisheries Sector in Malawi. Dalitso joined the global network of change agents as a LEAD Fellow. He is also a Pan-Africa START Climate Change Adaptation Teaching Fellow.
