Rachel Chimbwete-PhiriĀ holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from University of Warwick, UK. She is a lecturer in Language and Communication Studies at the University of Malawi.Ā Her research interests are professional communication, development communication and health discourse. She has co-authored journal articles on communication in HIV/AIDS consultations in Malawi (with S. Schnurr) and book chapters on language and health education discourse (with S. Schnurr; and M.N. MacDonald) and ethnic identities and multiparty politics in Malawi (with E. Chimbwete and M. J. Boti-Phiri).
