Profile

Bubire is a results-driven language education lecturer in the Department of Language Education at the University of Malawi (UNIMA) with 8 years of experience lecturing language and literacy courses. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Teaching Studies- Language Education from the University of Malawi and a Bachelor of Education-Humanities majoring in English from the University of Livingstonia. She is the Principal Investigator in a partnership with Florida State University for the Large Classroom Pedagogy in Low-income Contexts Project. She also has a double role of facilitator in a Foundational Literacy course and research-mentor for Participatory Action Research (in early grade literacy projects) for the Strengthening Teacher Education and Practice (STEP) Activity through School to School (STS), a reviewer at the International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science (IJRISS), a member of the Comparative & International Education Society (CIES), an editor for both the School of Education Newsletter and the Education Reform Programme (MERP), and a writer with a published article in a peer-reviewed journal. She is also passionate about community outreach and was once a patroness of a club called ‘Let’s Talk’, a club that was established to deal with day-to-day issues of mental health and psychological well-being like; depression, peer pressure, and juvenile delinquency that primary school learners face. She is a team player, but can also work with minimum supervision, always ready to go beyond the basic assignment, and loves challenges.
