Students’ Representative Council (SRC)

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) is the executive arm of the University of Malawi Students’ Association (UNIMASA). It serves as the official voice of all students, representing their interests in academic, social, and welfare matters. The SRC formulates and implements policies that reflect the express wishes of the student body, works closely with the University Administration, and promotes active student participation in leadership and decision-making.

Core Functions of the SRC

Representation

Represent and advocate for student welfare and rights.

Policy Development

Develop and implement policies and programs that benefit the student community.

Collaboration

Facilitate collaboration between students, university management, and external partners.

Oversight

Oversee the registration and coordination of student societies and organizations.

Financial Management

Manage student-related funds and ensure transparency and accountability.

Leadership Structure

The SRC is headed by the President, supported by the Vice President, General Secretary, and Directors responsible for key areas such as Finance, Academic Affairs, Sports, Welfare, Environment, Culture, and Investments. It also includes special attachés for Gender and Disability Affairs to promote inclusion and equity.
