HEAD OF RESEARCH
Purpose of the Job
To coordinate research in a manner that ensures that quality control, regulations and procedures are strictly adhered to and high academic standards are maintained.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Leading initiatives to expand University's scholarly productivity and increase in research funding.

Providing leadership in the development, review, sensitisation, and implementation of the University’s Consultancy, Innovation and Technology Transfer policies.

Serving as the Chief Research Officer for the University, ensuring compliance with national and university policies governing university-sponsored research.

Serving in relevant committees of the Council.

Providing support for faculty and students to engage in research and creative activities.
-
Developing effective and efficient technology transfer strategies and policies.
-
Managing invention disclosures and inventions from all areas in the University.

Overseeing all proposals for external funding for research

Participating in the negotiations of funding proposals as may be required.

Leading strategic planning efforts with regards to research, scholarship, and student research assistantships.

Overseeing the planning and implementation of faculty and student research and scholarly activities, and the management of research/funding opportunities for graduate students.

Collaborating with the schools, academic departments, and other stakeholders in the University to maintain and increase graduate student graduate support.

Serving as a liaison person with University leadership to ensure a coordinated approach to research activities for faculty and students.

Minimum Education Qualifications and Experience

PhD
-
Five (5) years’ relevant research experience.
