Department of Media and Communication Studies

The Department of Media and Communication Department offers academic programmes, research and consultancy in Media and Communication Studies with Cultural Studies as their focal paradigm. The Communication Studies focus examines the process of human communication, including the creation, delivery, and receiving of both verbal and non-verbal messages. On the other hand, the Media Studies focus examines the critical/cultural analysis of all media formats and the role they play in society. These media include print, television, radio, video games, movies, social media, the internet, etc. The Cultural Studies component highlights an innovative interdisciplinary field of research and teaching that investigates the ways in which culture creates and transforms individual experiences, everyday life, social and power relations.

The Department houses five undergraduate programmes namely, BA Media for Development, BA Communication and Cultural Studies, BA Digital Media, BA Journalism, Communication and Politics; and BA Journalism with Public Relations.
