The University of Malawi invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill an existing position of Staff Associate/Lecturer, Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Physics and Electronics tenable in the Department of Physics and Electronics, School of Natural and Applied Sciences.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess:
-
A relevant Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of Credit (for Staff Associate post); or
-
A relevant Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) with a minimum of Upper Second Class (for Assistant Lecturer post); or
-
A relevant Bachelor’s Degree as in (a) or (b) above and a minimum of a Master Degree in Physics or Electronics (for posts of Lecturer and above).

The applicants must have demonstrated research abilities in Physics or Electronics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidate for academic position will be undertaking the following duties:

Teaching various courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
-
Conducting research in his/her area of specialisation.
-
Participating in Departmental, School and University wide committee meetings.
-
Being part of academic consultants within the broader areas of the Department.
-
Participating in outreach programs of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess:

A relevant Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of Credit (for Staff Associate post) or,

A relevant Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) with a minimum of Upper Second Class (for Assistant Lecturer post); or
-
A relevant Bachelor’s Degree as in (a) or (b) above and a minimum of a Master Degree in Statistics or Actuarial Science or related fields such as Economics (for posts of Lecturer and above).

The applicant must have demonstrated research abilities in Statistics or Actuarial Science (or related fields such as Economics).

For the Actuarial Science post, Candidates writing professional Actuarial Science courses are encouraged to apply.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidates will be undertaking the following duties:

Teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students;

Conducting research in their area of specialization as well as within the broader areas of the department;
-
Participating in Departmental, School, College and University wide committee meetings;

Participating in outreach and consultancy services within the broader areas of the department; and
-
Carrying out any duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department/ Executive Dean of the School.
