24-Oct-2016 (at 08:00AM - at 05:00PM )

The Centre for Social Research (CSR) in collaboration with the College of Medicine and University of Stellenbosch in South Africa will host a three day write-shop at Kuchawe Inn from 24th to 26th October 2016. The overall goal of the write-shop is to contribute to the development and entrenchment of the academic writing culture among young and middle level academics through both local and international publishing outlets. The lead facilitator for the write-shop will be Professor Leslie Swartz from the University of Stellenbosch supported by Professors Chioza Bandawe and Blessings Chinsinga from the College of Medicine and CSR, Chancellor College respectively.

The write-shop targets a total of 25 participants, 10 from the College of Medicine and 15 from Chancellor College, Faculty of Social Science. The number of participants is deliberately limited in order to ensure that there will be productive and fruitful engagement between the facilitators and the participants so that the strategic objective of the write-shop is fully accomplished. Participants will thus by the end of the write-shop be thrust onto the road to becoming seasoned academic publishers. The write-shop is now open to all interested academic members at Chancellor College with 10 slots still available.

Applications are therefore invited from interested members to participate in this write-shop for which all costs of participation will be covered by the organizers. Interested applicants should have either a manuscript that was sent for publication but was rejected for publication including the comments from the reviewers and editors or willing to develop a draft manuscript by the time of the write-shop. These requirements are intended to ensure that the write-shop will be as practicable building skills that can immediately be put into practice.

All those interested should forward their applications indicating whether they already have a manuscript or they will develop one by the time of the write-shop to csr@cc.ac.mw. Expression of interest to participate in the write-shop should be sent by 18th October 2016 while those who expect to participate on the basis of developing a new manuscript should do so by 20th October 2016.
