Colin Cameron is a Scottish lawyer and politician. In 1959 Colin and his wife, Alison, opened their home to Malawian nationalists released from detention. These were Malawians who had been arrested during the State of Emergency. In September of the same year, the Cameron’s home witnessed the birth of the Malawi Congress Party whose caretaker President became Orton Chirwa. After the formation of Dr H Kamuzu Banda’s first Cabinet in 1961, “Together with his wife, Alison, [Cameron] made his home an open house for the Congress leaders and many significant meetings had been held there” (Ross, 2013). Colin Cameron was one of the Ministers who resigned from the Cabinet on 29 July 1964.
