UNIMA EDUCATION SOCIETY INSPIRES NEXT GENERATION OF SCHOLARS
In a bid to inspire future academics, the University of Malawi (UNIMA) Education Society hosted students from Nyambadwe Private Secondary School for an enlightening educational visit on Friday, November 1st, 2024. The visit, aimed at motivating prospective university students, provided the Blantyre-based secondary school learners with a comprehensive tour of UNIMA's prestigious campus. Students were guided through various academic facilities, including the School of Law, Economics and Government, the School of Education, and the School of Natural and Applied Sciences.
A highlight of the tour was the visit to the University's iconic Great Hall, which many students admitted they had neither seen nor fully understood its significance before. Miss Tapiwa Sanga, an executive member of the Education Society, enlightened the visitors about the hall's prominence not only within the university but across Malawi. "The Great Hall stands as a testament to UNIMA's legacy of excellence," Sanga explained, citing notable events hosted in the venue. She particularly referenced the recent ceremony where the President of Mozambique received an honorary degree earlier this year, demonstrating the hall's significance in hosting prestigious academic and national events.
The tour left a lasting impression on the visiting students, who expressed their aspirations to one day join the ranks of UNIMA's student body, enrolled in the institution’s professional and specialized programmes. Their enthusiasm reflected the university's beloved motto of being "the university that God loves most."
This initiative by the UNIMA Education Society represents ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between secondary and tertiary education, inspiring the next generation of scholars to pursue higher education at one of Malawi's most esteemed institutions.
