Assistant Registrar
The University of Malawi (UNIMA) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Assistant Registrar. The position plays a key leadership role to support the efficient, effective and strategic functions in the Office of the Registrar in ensuring the administration of quality customer-oriented services consistent with the University polices, regulatory, national and regional standards.
Among others, the successful candidate shall work in consultation with various Heads of Department and Administrative units to ensure timely development and management of the schedules guiding the use of the university facilities. Additionally, the candidate shall provide opportune, high-quality and exceptional service delivery to the University in adherence to the applicable Laws, Statutes, Policies, Rules and Regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Providing input in the development and review of policies, plans, strategies, systems, procedures, and regulations governing the University;

Implementing and monitoring support services, policies, plans, strategies, systems, procedures, and regulations.

Managing recruitment, selection and registration of students including records and information system;

Providing advice to line managers, students, and stakeholders.

Preparing academic transcripts, certifications, and other documents;

Coordinating the scheduling of activities including timetabling programmes/courses/subjects, continuous assessments, regular/deferred/supplementary examinations, among others

Supporting the organization of special university functions including congregation ceremonies

Attending to enquires, queries and providing timely feedback

Servicing relevant committees
Preferred Minimum Education Qualification and Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree from a Higher Education Institution recognised or accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).

Relevant postgraduate qualification.

Proven record in academic, student service or administrative roles.

Five years of direct experience in a setting with an international, or culturally diverse student body.

Understanding of technology applications related to records and data management processes.

Experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is essential; database management experience would be highly preferred

Experience working in a similar role in institutions of higher education would be highly preferred
