Assistant Registrar Estates and Facilities
The University of Malawi invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill a vacant post for Assistant Registrar- Estates and Facilities tenable at the University of Malawi in Zomba.
Purpose of the Job
To plan, develop, manage and maintain the physical infrastructure and assets of the University such as buildings, grounds, utilities and other infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities

Providing leadership in the development and maintenance of estates and facilities;

Initiating, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing estates development and maintenance policies, plans, strategies, systems, procedures, and regulations;

Providing advisory services related to Estates development and maintenance to line managers;

Dealing with tenancy and leasehold matters;
-
Ensuring quality control of infrastructure development and maintenance works;
-
Monitoring implementation of estates development projects;
-
Managing and maintaining estates records;

Assessing and certifying completed works;

Servicing relevant committees;

Preparing product specifications and Terms of reference for construction works and services

Preparing bill of quantities for budget estimates for estates development and maintenance works
-
Executing minor civil, electrical and mechanical engineering works
-
Preparing infrastructure and maintenance reports;
-
Managing relationship with external stakeholders
-
Preparing Estates reports;
-
Initiating aesthetic ways of face lifting the existing built facilities;
-
Monitoring and evaluating outsourced estates related services;
-
Appraising and mentoring staff.
Minimum Education Qualification and Experience
Applicants should have a Masters’ degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Structural Engineering or Architecture or other relevant fields with 5 years’ experience in the relevant field and professional certification with relevant professional body.
