Compliance Officer

VACANCY FOR COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the permanent position of Compliance Officer at Chancellor College based at the University of Malawi Research Ethics Committee (UNIMAREC).

Qualifications and experience:

Applicants for the position should have at least a University Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution with a minimum of two years’ experience in research related field. Those with knowledge in research ethics, proposal development and research process management will have an added advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be required to perform the following duties:

  1. Ensuring that investigators conduct research following the protocol as approved by UNIMAREC and in accordance with national regulatory requirements and policies.

  2. Inspect on-going studies through conducting inspection visits with at least a member of UNIMAREC.

  3. Preparing reports of site inspection visits for UNIMAREC.

  4. Take part in the training of UNIMAREC members and investigators in research ethics and standards.

  5. Provide advisory services to UNIMAREC members and investigators on good research practice.

  6. Ensure the protection of the rights, safety and wellbeing of research participants.

  7. Assisting the UNIMAREC administrator in taking minutes at the UNIMAREC monthly review meetings.

  8. Ensure that serious adverse events are properly documented and reported to UNIMAREC and relevant national regulatory bodies.

  9. Ensure the research monitoring and UNIMAREC databases are kept up to date.

  10. Ensure that all Material Transfer Agreement forms are completed appropriately.

  11. Ensure that all annual progress reports/continuing review applications are completed.

  12. Ensure filling and maintenance of study files.

  13. Updating and managing UNIMAREC website and internet client interface module.
