SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER SPECIALIST - TWO POSTS
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Sign Language Interpreter Specialist.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Education Degree majoring in Special Needs from a recognized University. Those with a MANAD Certificate in Sign Language Interpreting will have an added advantage. The candidate should also have at least 3 years working experience in a similar field.
Duties and Responsibilities

Providing a full range of interpreting services for students with hearing impairments

Interpreting lectures, meeting, and training session, or other requested events.

Accommodating the special needs of students with hearing impairment into the general education curriculum

Liaising with Lecturers to ensure that special needs students have a chance to succeed in class

Communicating with parents, concerning all aspects of their child’s educational programs

Liaising with Lecturers in adapting instructional methods and assignments

Supporting students in assistive technology to enable learning and increase independence.

Creating and implementing appropriate behavioural support plans in liaison with Lecturers and students

Enhancing the good relationships between special needs students and their classmates

Implementing best inclusion practices for students with a range of disabilities.

Writing monthly reports
