Staff Associate/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Music Theory (on contract)
Qualifications

Applicants must possess a minimum of Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Music, Bachelor of Education degree majoring in Music, or Bachelor of Music degree with credit or distinction for the position of Staff Associate.

Applicants for the position of Lecturer and Senior Lecturer must possess a minimum of Master’s Degree or PhD in Music from a recognised accredited institution.

Applicants must demonstrate competence in teaching music theory, and any other music subject such as music and politics, Malawian dance, music in development, and music entrepreneurship.

Applicants for Lecturer and Senior Lecturer positions must have a track record of research, publications and public performance in relevant fields of music.

Those with teaching experience at university level will have an added advantage.
Duties
Successful candidates shall be expected to perform the following duties:

Teaching, setting and timely marking examinations for undergraduate courses

Engaging in the development of curricula for undergraduate studies currently, and postgraduate studies in the short term for Senior Lecturer successful candidates

Conducting research, consultancies and publishing in the area of specialisation

Supervising student projects

Participating and presenting in academic seminars, concerts and outreach programmes

Preparing students for academic assessment concerts at least twice every semester

Creating vocal/dance/band ensembles

Performing any other academic and official duties as may be assigned from time to time
