STAFF ASSOCIATE/LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR IN INVERTEBRATE ZOOLOGY (CONTRACT)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of Staff Associate/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/Professor in Invertebrate Zoology in the Department of Biological Sciences tenable at the University of Malawi.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants for the post of Staff Associate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences with a minimum of a credit and should have majored in vertebrate related courses. For the post of Lecturer, candidates should possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Invertebrate zoology or Entomology or any related discipline. Candidates for the post of Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor must possess a minimum of a PhD in Invertebrate zoology or Entomology and must have a good record of publications in their field of expertise, demonstrating work experience as an academician from recognized universities. Those applying for positions of Lecturer and above should have obtained a first degree in zoology with credit.
Duties
The successful candidate will be undertaking the following duties:
- Teaching various zoological courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level e.g. Vertebrate zoology, Invertebrate zoology, Entomology etc.
- Conducting research in his/her area of specialisation.
- Participating in Departmental, Faculty and University wide committees.
- Being part of academic consultants within the broader areas of the department.
- Participating in outreach programs of the department.
- Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
