Assistant Systems Development Engineer (INTERNAL VACANCY)
The University of Malawi (UNIMA) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill an existing position of Assistant Systems Development Engineer.
Qualifications
BSc in Computer Science or BSc in Information Technology or related fields.
Experience
At least 2 years of work experience in a busy software development house. Those with proven working experience in developing systems for supporting higher education will have an added advantage.
Skills
A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.
Proven working experience in the following web programming languages: PHP, ASP.NET, JAVA, Python or Ruby on Rails.
A solid understanding in the following front-end languages and technologies: Javascript, JQuery, HTML and CSS.
Proven understanding or working experience in relational databases such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or above, and Oracle.
Ability to create and maintain software documentation.
Basic understanding of both LAN and WAN in as far as web applications are concerned.
Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills
