CRAFS PROJECT: SOFTWARE ENGINEERS (4 POSITIONS)
University of Malawi invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following internship opportunities tenable in the School of Natural and Applied Sciences at University of Malawi in Zomba
Applicants should be those who have recently graduated or completed their bachelors pending graduation from institutions of higher learning accredited by National Council for Higher Education. Candidates should have specialization in any of the following fields: Information Systems/ Network Engineering/ Computer Science.
Duties and responsibilities
The interns will assist with software and Internet of Things (IoT) solution developments including the following:

Digital solutions development: Under this component, the Intern shall perform the following duties:

Requirements capturing for different project as assigned by CRAFS
-
Systems design and modeling
-
Coding and testing for software products
-
Software documentation
-
Product deployment and support
-
User training
-
Research: Under this component, the Intern shall perform the following duties:
-
Identification of funding opportunities for possible research projects and consultancies
-
Participate in proposal development for projects and consultancy
-
Data collection for research projects
-
Report writing
-
Research dissemination
-
Administrative work and project management: Under this component the Intern shall perform the following duties:
-
Support CRAFS staff with project management
-
Monitor pre-agreed on online sites for project funding opportunities
-
Participate in project proposal writing
-
Mentorship of Undergraduate students and Interns
Under this component, the Intern shall perform the following duties:
-
Provide tutorials on select emergent topics and project-specific technology
-
Marketing and Client Support
Under this component the Intern shall perform the following duties:
-
Managing CRAF’s digital presence
-
Marketing of products and services offered by CRAFS
-
Demonstration of digital solutions
-
Developing user manuals
-
Developing training manuals
-
Developing system manuals
-
Providing technical support to clients
-
Facilitating capacity development efforts
-
Teaching Assistantship
Under this component, the Intern shall serve as a resource person within areas of competence in different Computer Science and professional computing courses.

Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
-
The Intern is Required to perform administrative functions of CRAFS such as sound record-keeping.

The Intern may be required on as need basis to perform other duties as assigned by the head of Department
