Instructor /Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in English Literature [updated]

Qualifications

Candidates for Instructor position must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Candidates for Lecturer position must have at least a Master’s Degree in English Literature with a minimum of TWO years teaching experience. The candidates should be conversant in two or more of the following fields:

• African Literature

• Oral Literature

• Malawian Literature

• Shakespeare

• Literary Theory

Duties and responsibilities

Successful candidates for academic positions will be undertaking the following duties:

1. Teaching, setting and timely marking examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate students

2. Conducting research in their area of specialisation

3. Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate student projects within the Department

4. Participating in all academic and professional activities of the Department

5. Being part of academic consultants within the broader areas of the department
